I bought a webcam for my mother. All she wants is to be able to use it for yahoo messenger. So I got her one that didn't cost very much, well it was on sale anyway but it come with all this fancy software to do video email. Problem, it doesn't work on her computer. So I install it on mine to see if it works. The camera at least works on my computer but the software still doesn't recognize the camera... *rolls eyes* so much for fancy software. I thought the problem was solved, I would just hook up my old camera for mom on her computer and all would be well. Oh hell no. See, she has the Windows upgrade from 95 to 98 and for some reason the Microsoft capture thing isn't compatible or isn't making the camera work right or something. *growl* I'm going to try to see if using windows update will bring the capture thing up to date but I won't hold my breath...

The Legend of Wolfrose
Once in the Land of Mist
A wolf went walking
seeking yet not knowing
what he would find
Then he stopped...
... for in front of him
bathed in pale moonlight
was beauty frozen in time
The Wolf met the Rose
and took her as mate
in the mist where the
moon did shine
Be it legend or myth
once a wolf loved a rose
in the land of mist
where the Lady did shine
Point of the tale you ask...
... eh who knows...
but some would call it
the Legend of Wolfrose...

Magic Accounting
Ok, so maybe you are saying to yourself, "When the hell is she actually going to bitch about something???" Alrighty then, here goes...
I usually get a child support check around the fifth of every month, except for this month. So I call the local branch of the Texas Attn. Gen. office to find out where my check is. I get informed that since it got to their office on October 31st, and I had already gotten my "allotment" for October, it is an extra check for October and as such the state would keep it to go towards what my ex owes in back child support. I said, "but he only gets paid every two weeks, it's not like it really is extra money and I need that check." I was then told, "ma'am there is no use arguing." Oh bet me, I WILL get my money somehow. No damn state should STEAL money from a child. I'm not fucking stupid, I can read court documents, hell I've even typed the damn things up so I actually *do* know what the hell they say. When the person who pays child support doesn't get paid once a month then they go by how they get paid and order the support that way so I'm not really supposed to get some set allotment for a single month, I'm supposed to get a set amount for EACH payday. What moronic assholes!
You know something else that pisses me off about them... my ex owes a certain amount of back child support that I will never see because the state keeps that, they are charging an ungodly amount of interest on that back support. Who the hell needs the mob when you have a state like this? I'm not done either, they finally caught up with my oldest's father and took him to court for child support. A judge ordered an amount for him to pay in current support and only ordered him to pay $3,000.00 in back support which was fine with me since I won't see a dime of back support and IMO fair for a man who is raising his other three children himself. Oh but that wasn't good enough for the damn state, NO, they had to file an appeal "In the Interest of" my daughter. *rolls eyes* Give me a break, if it was in her interest, they would have left it alone so I could have gotten a friggin check this month for her. GGGGGRRRRRRRRR!! ASSHOLES!!!

Dead Monitor
Well, a couple of days ago my monitor decided that it's time was up and died. So I've spent the last couple of days either pissed off at my computer or sleeping. St.Parker is really happy I got some sleep... something I neglect sometimes while occupied with Poser. ;) I've been saved from the hell that is St.Parker's computer though. *grin* My mother bought my Yule present early and now I have a new 17" monitor.
So now it's back to bitchness... ;p

Guns & Whiskey Bottles
Today I just thought I would brag and put up a pic of my kids.... innocent looking creatures aren't they... ;p No really, they are. My oldest is an honors student matter of fact. :)
Ok, I have to tell the story behind the picture. My grandmother has pictures of all her grandchildren done in this ole timey fashion so my mother wanted to get my kids done to add to the collection. It's fun so ok, but the kids get to dress however they want. (In my pic, taken at the age of 11, I'm covered from neck to ankle and I didn't have to work at looking serious since I was none too happy with my costume.) Anyway, after the photographer places the six shooter and the rifle in my sons hands without even a glance in my direction, the girls wanted to hold the whiskey bottles. The man turns to me and asks if that is ok. I'm thinking, "Oh yeah, I don't care if my son has deadly weapons in his hands but by gosh don't stick empty whiskey bottles in my girls hands... sheesh what the fuck???" I gave him my most serious blank look and said, "of course." Parker and I had a good laugh over that one after we left. ;)
My cold is getting better, I can actually sit at the keyboard more than two minutes without feeling like I'm going to pass out... too bad I can't seem to go two minutes without hacking up a lung.... *coughcoughcough*

Peace Man
I know there are a lot of people out there who are doing everything in their power to enforce peace on the rest of the world. I would just like to use my little soapbox here to remind everyone that your idea of peace may not be someone else idea of peace. It is also an opportune moment to mention that sometimes peace has to be fought for.
Give Me NyQuil
I have a horrid cold. I've had this crap since the middle of last week. St. Parker even had me sloshed on rum Friday night going for the old sailors cure.... too bad he tried to follow that by poisoning me with hot ginger and honey tea... my stomach turned inside out. Either one would do but definitely not both at the same time... uck!!!! I've decided to stick with NyQuil.

The Day Before...
On September 10th around 3 a.m. cst, I was as usual sitting at my computer with Poser open tweaking a character I have been working on. All of the sudden my monitor blinked off, popped and smoke started pouring out of it. :( I woke St.Parker up and he quickly took it apart to make sure the fire was out. Later that morning he informed me that the horizontal hold transistor or something like that must have gone out but my monitor still worked limited. *SIGH* Now, till then I had been in 1024 x 768 res and now I'm stuck with 800 x 600 which IMO really bites!!!
As if that were not bad enough, that evening we tied our two dogs out in the side yard to get some exercise and left to get a part at the hardware store. When we came back, one of the dogs had wrapped herself around the water faucet and pulled the pipe out of the ground making us a nice pretty fountain in the side yard. No water for the rest of the evening needless to say. That got fixed first thing the next morning which was September 11... and now, yes I am still viewing the web on my old monitor in 800 x 600 because it doesn't seem all that important anymore...

Patriotic Scams & Spams
It's now been ten days since those of us in America got our rude wake up call that we are not untouchable. I don't think there is a person in America that this has not affected in some way. Mostly I see that it has stoked the fires of patriotism all across America and that truly brings a smile to my face and a tear to my eye.
In the world of the internet though it has brought out scam artists, which is sad. Also I have noticed that people seem to think that in the name of unity we should disregard common netequette like not sending email attachments to email lists. I can't tell you how many times I have received the graphic of the WTC rebuilt to look like we're flipping off the world. I think it's a great idea, that will never be done because it isn't proper, but I don't think that in the name of tragedy we should disregard the rules of the web... but that's just my opinion. ;) YMMV
